  "mechanism": "Treat a channel as computational: it rejects inputs meaningfully instead of corrupting them. Its entropy rate, bits submitted per bit accepted, measures work done, not information lost. What decides adaptability is not the rejection rate but the cost of each rejection. Rejected inputs are proximate options, already produced by a generator that carries information about them, and reachable by small changes to the acceptor. Friction between generator and acceptor is therefore stored optionality.",
