ExperienceMixAllocation#0fc0

Mix a few deep experts with cheap or diverse workers, matched to how new the problem is

Mechanism

For a known domain a small number of very experienced agents outperform a large crowd of novices, because they know where to look. For a new paradigm nobody has the answer, so volume and variety win. The allocation of expensive expert capacity versus cheap parallel workers is chosen from how well-mapped the problem is.

Invariants

  • Allocation depends on problem novelty
  • Expensive capacity handles judgment; cheap capacity handles volume

Failure modes

  • Cheap swarm looping over already-discovered facts
  • Expert capacity spent on volume work
