GenerationalKnowledgeTransfer#5c5c
Pass useful knowledge to a successor and let the predecessor end
Mechanism
An endlessly learning agent accumulates junk. Ending an instance and passing selected knowledge to a successor applies StrategicForgetting at the lifetime scale: those that transfer wrong knowledge fail to continue. The knowledge sits in the PersistentInnateState layer that outlives each instance, and the known end gives the instance the effort effect described in BoundedHorizonEffort.
Invariants
- Transfer is selective
- Each instance has a bounded lifetime
Failure modes
- Transfer of the wrong knowledge is not detected before the predecessor ends
- Losing valuable knowledge that a successor would need
