RouterIntelligenceParadox#210a
Choosing which model to send a job to takes at least the intelligence of the job
Mechanism
A router that must decide which model should handle a task has to understand the task first. A weak router misjudges difficulty and misroutes. The sound design lets the strongest model make the routing decision and delegate cheap work downward, instead of putting a cheap classifier in front.
Invariants
- Routing quality is bounded by the router's understanding of the task
- Delegation flows from strong to cheap
Failure modes
- Cheap router sends hard tasks to weak models
- Router cost approaches the cost of doing the task
